Privacy. What this site counts about a visit, and what it never sees.
What stays in your browser
A figure that takes your photos works on your device. Your photos are never uploaded or saved. The analytics tools learn only that you added photos, and how many: 1, 2 to 5, or 6 or more. They never see what you type into a form.
Tools without cookies
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and how fast pages load.
- Umami counts visits: the page, the site you came from, your country, your type of device and browser, and the reading events below.
Neither tool sets a cookie or follows you to other sites.
Tools with cookies
- Google Analytics counts the same visits and events, for deeper reports. It sets
_gacookies. Ad features are off. - The X pixel counts visits that came from an ad on X, and sign-ups after them. It sets the
_twclidcookie. When you subscribe on a page where it runs, X receives a one-way hash of your address to count the sign-up.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, these two tools load only after you choose "Allow". Elsewhere they load with the page.
The reading events
- How far you read a post, and which parts of a long read you reach.
- Which "Under the hood" blocks you open, and which contents items and links you click.
- Whether you try a photo figure, with your photos or with the samples.
- Whether you send the sign-up form or the contact form, and whether you download the CV.
The contact form sends your message and address to my inbox. The sign-up form keeps your address on a list stored with Cloudflare. I use an address only to answer you or to tell you about a new post. To leave the list, write to me through the contact form.
